Art, Emergence, and Radical Love —

In May 2022, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation’s Performing Arts Program commissioned Kimzin Creative and On The Margins to facilitate a community-led and asset-based process with Sonoma County artists to understand their lived experiences, creative visions, hopes, and dreams. In collaboration with eight Sonoma County artists (the Asesores) we co-designed an actionable grantmaking roadmap to distribute $650,000 in Hewlett grant funds which will advance Sonoma County arts and culture workers who have been historically and systematically oppressed, by providing economic relief via grants, educational workshops, space for community gatherings, and health and wellness resources.Programming will occur Fall’ 23-Spring ‘25. Arts and Cultural Equity Fellowship —

Creative Sonoma, in collaboration with Kimzin Creative, is now running our second year of fellowship grants that exists to uplift the artistic and economic advancement of six emerging to mid-career creative artists and leaders – who work within or on behalf of communities of color – with funding, training, mentorship, and increased connection to the local arts and business communities.
