CREATIVE CAMPUS

Creative Campus is a strategic arts plan for schools with the goal to engage students in the creative arts, support mental health, and improve their academic engagement and development by delivering over 150 hours of FREE, comprehensive year-round, high quality arts programming. This innovative program integrates academic, behavioral, and social-emotional practices into culturally responsive arts opportunities to support student success.

“Building Confidence and Resilience Through the Arts”

George Lucas’s (award winning filmmaker best known for star wars) Education Foundation named "Edutopia" is a trusted source shining a spotlight on what works in education. They selected Creative Campus as the source for a video highlighting the magic happening at our schools.)

FREE SUMMER CAMPS

La Luz Center, Sonoma’s primary Latinx community resource center, in collaboration with Kimzin Creative, hosts free arts summer camps for local youth throughout summer. These summer camps are part of La Luz Center’s larger CASA de la Cultura programming that seeks to; build a foundation to amplify and deepen the voices of Latinx people; maximize Booker Hall’s use as a community and cultural center; strengthen the connection between the Latinx and non-Latinx community; celebrate and educate the legacy of traditional and modern Latinx arts and culture practices. The camps are designed to give youth an opportunity to learn about themselves and latinx culture through the arts: visual, performance, film and music.

We curate trainings to deepen staff proficiency on:
  • “Understanding Trauma and Using the Arts as Tools for Resilience”
  • “Culturally Relevant Arts Programming”
  • “State of the Artist”
  • “Authentic Relationships in Program Design”

"I could not have created this curriculum without Nikko’s guidance.

His experience, creativity and passion for equitable arts education makes him imperative to the success of arts integrated programming. Every organization could use Nikko’s input. Plus, he is so fun to work with!

"Creative Campus was a really successful experience for staff and students.

There was a professional development component, and ambassador teachers worked in partnership with Kimzin Creative to develop arts-infused approaches to language development in the classroom. It built capacity for staff to reimagine how we might effectively engage students in learning.
